MH370: Weather affects search operation, AMSA to continue SAR on Friday

The search operations in the Indian Ocean for the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 aircraft, have been completed for the day in the Australian Search and Rescue Region, and will continue on Friday.

In a media statement issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), the area covered was 23,000 square kilometre, about 2500 kilometres south-west of Perth.

Four aircrafts were involved in the mission: two Royal Australia Air Force AP-3C Orions, a US Navy P8 Poseidon, and a Royal New Zealand Air ForceP-3K2 Orion, along with an RAAF C-130J Hercules aircraft.

AMSA earlier reported that cloud and rain had caused limited visibility and affected the search operation for an object detected by satellites on the southern Indian Ocean.

During a press conference at Sama-Sama hotel, acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein said that the sightings of the two objects is credible, but is yet to be confirmed.
