MIC candidates for GE15 finalised - Vigneswaran

SUNGAI SIPUT: MIC has finalised the list of candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15), said its president Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran.

He said the candidates had passed the screening at the party level, and the decision would be determined by the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership.

"Hopefully (these candidates) will be accepted by the BN leadership. It (the decision) will be announced by BN chairman," he told reporters at the state-level Deepavali celebration here today, with Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad also present.

Asked whether there will be additional seats for MIC, Vigneswaran said the party had submitted its request to BN leadership.

"We requested to contest winnable seats so there will be no waste of money. We also want to ensure victory in all traditional seats," he said.

On Oct 10, MIC announced that about 70 per cent of its candidates for GE15 will be new faces, with priority given to party leaders.
