The MIC Central Working Committee (CWC) today ruled that Datuk Seri G. Palanivel is no longer its president.
Following the decision by CWC, MIC current deputy president Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam now helms the position of acting MIC President.
In a series of brief statement today, Subra said Palanivel had automatically lost his membership in MIC for not referring to the CWC first before proceeding with legal action on the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
Subra said the 2009 interim CWC had already sent a letter to the Barisan Nasional (BN) secretariat in March, to inform them of the ceasing of membership.

He also set the dates of the party’s re-election, beginning with its branch elections, in mid-July.
Earlier today, Palanivel had suspended the membership of fifteen leaders for a period of 12 months including Subramaniam and vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan.
Yesterday, the High Court dismissed two judicial review applications by Palanivel and other MIC leaders challenging the Registrar of Societies order for the party to hold fresh elections.
Judge Justice Asmabi Mohamad ruled that the court has no reason to interfere with RoS decision and dismissed the applications to pay RM90,000 in costs.
