The MIC internal crisis arose after RoS cancelled the election for the post of three vice presidents and 23 central working committee (CWC) members during the MIC general assembly in November, 2013.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said MIC will be holding fresh elections to resolve the crisis in the party.
He said following his meeting with MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel and deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, it was decided fresh elections would end the party woes.
“The decision will be conveyed by MIC to the Registrar of Societies so that appropriate action can be taken for the fresh elections,” Najib said in a statement today.
He said further details will be announced once MIC receives a letter from the RoS.
Also present at the meeting was Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
