Michelin’s big-badboy tyres for trucks and buses

They’re nearly a meter tall and wrap around 22.5-inch steel rims, and that’s not even the biggest size on offer for Michelin’s new X Multi range of bus and truck tyres. Wait what? Bus and truck tyres on Car Magazine?

Nope we have not lost our marbles, at least not yet. But, if you have ever been a passenger on a bus, or ever required goods for your business to be a delivered on a truck or 40-ft trailer then these polyvalent tyres could ensure your next journey or cargo haul goes as planned.

Did you know trucks require different variants of tyres depending on their positions under the heavy load? There’s one for the steering axles, one for the driving axle(s) and one that bears the brunt of the load on the trailer’s axle(s). Not anymore though. Michelin’s untiring R&D efforts have created the new Multi Z which slots anywhere under these load-luggers and promises and longer usage life (because the tyres can now be rotated), bigger load volumes, enhanced traction, lower rolling resistance and better versatility come time to rethread. If a cat has nine lives, these tyres have three. Plus they have been optimised for long haul, regional and urban road usage. The X Multi range still carries the regular Drive and Trailer tyres as well.
