Milan Fashion Week Highlights
Gucci’s FW15 collection showed us the fashion house is going for youthful naïveté. Alessandro Michele's Gucci show still qualifies as a moment. The FW15 Gucci girl is an ingénue with an eccentric side, someone who looks as though she's picked out her clothes at garage sales and vintage stores, and mixed them magpie-style with a couple of antique heirloom rings, chunky rimmed glasses, with the recurrent pompom hat.
Stella Jean’s collection seemingly feels like she went to an inspirational voyage to the Himalayas and developed a line filled with grainy tweeds and fantastic embroideries. Like a homage to the ritual adornment of the Himalayan yak—as well as flowing silks and floating volumes. Patterns, prints, colour and textures.
Urban street wear inspired. Philipp Plein takes a page out of the highly prominent athleisure trend sweeping the fashion world. The FW15 collection is strong - we like the emphasis on feminism and women empowerment with the fur shawl with 'Warrior' written across it. So 90s urban chic!
Alberta Ferretti’s collection is romanticism at its finest. Botanical prints on shapeless dresses, embroidered and woven detailed pieces paired with high collared ruffled shirts. The FW15 collection takes us back to the inventive renaissance period with both bohemian and royal court influences.
Kendall Jenner struts down the runway for NO21. Coincidentally she was wearing one of our favourite looks from the show. The taupe tulle look was very whimsical with the added lace gloves. The pleated detailing that fans out by the neck is a risk that paid off.
The NO21 all white look really took us by surprise. The textures and fluidity of the ensemble was entrancing and the design is fashion forward and modern but at the same time purposeful. The white fleece is glorious! We can just see this in the next big dystopian world blockbuster.
Fausto Puglisi's collection was powerful and left us wanting more. Genius mix of prints, patterns and textures. The Puglisi woman is sexy, dominant, cool and creative. Irreverent - a leader of the pack.
