Military, police salary grades harmonised

The salary grades in the military and police force are being raised to match the structure in the civil service effective Jan 1 this year, Prime Minister Datuk seri Najib Tun Razak announced Monday.

He said the exercise covered the scope of job functions, rank structure and qualification in the military and police schemes of service, and was designed to ensure harmony among the salary grades of the three services.

"For example, a corporal on Grade 17 in the military or police force will have the post harmonised with Grade 22 in the civil service while a sergeant on Grade 27 will have the post harmonised with Grade 29 in the civil service," he said in addressing the Premiere Gathering of the Civil Service, in Putrajaya.

Elaborating, Najib said a captain in the military and an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) on Grade 41 wouldhave the post harmonised to Grade 44 in the civil service.

Similarly, a major in the military and a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) on Grade 41 would have the post harmonised to Grade 46A in the civil service, he said
