Ministry to continue co-ordinating agencies for fast, accurate info dissemination
MCMC Sec-Gen Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohd Radzi
The Communication and Multimedia Ministry (MCMC) is to ensure that all its agencies disseminate information on the missing Malaysian Airlines aircraft quickly and accurately.
The ministry's secretary-general, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohd Radzi, said Friday the ministry would continue to coordinate the information from the relevant public agencies.
News agencies under the jurisdiction of the ministry had the capacity for wide and active news dissemination in a transparent manner, he said.
"No matter the television or radio broadcast, we are committed to giving awareness to Malaysians besides being transparent, in terms of whatever information, that is sourced from within and outside the country," he told reporters after flagging off 12 participants of the 'Kembara Bumi Suci 2014' expedition at Angkasapuri here.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, vanished while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing about one hour after departing from the KL International Airport at 12.41 am on Saturday.
It should have landed in Beijing at 6.30 am. Up to now, there is still no trace of the missing plane despite a massive multinational search.
On the expedition, he said it involved a 17,630-km walk that would take 55 days and an additional 10 days to perform the 'umrah' (minor haj).
He said the expedition was expected to end next May and the journey, across 11 countries, would be screened during the fasting month until Aidilfitri.
The expedition would involve walking overland from Malaysia to Thailand, China, Russia and several other countries before reaching the final destination, Mecca
