GEORGE TOWN: Malaysian finalist for Miss Teen Universe 2021, Dheper Reshaa Teh is unperturbed by the news of the postponement of the international pageant which was initially scheduled to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Nov 6 this year.

Dheper, a Penang-born student pursuing her diploma in business studies at INTI College Penang, said that the delay would gave her more time and opportunity for preparations as she believed that "good things take time".

"I would also like to wish all contenders the best of health for the pageant so that everyone can use this time to prepare for the upcoming competition," she told Bernama when contacted.

She said she would perform her very best for the country during the pageant and hoped that everyone would support her during the finals.

Yesterday, Dheper disclosed a statement by Miss Teen Universe that informed her that the international pageant will be postponed to a date next year.

The statement by Miss Teen Universe president Brayhan Guerrero stated that the decision to reschedule the international contest was made for the safety of the contestants worldwide.

"We have always characterised ourselves in bringing a magical experience to our teenagers and this will not be an exception. We hope to see you all in Dubai next year," he said.

It is believed that the postponement was due to the high COVID-19 risks and travel restrictions in some countries.
