Missing chopper: SAR operation at Batang Lupar
As the actual position of the helicopter is still not obtained, the fire and rescue team will scout for potential areas.
A total of 24 members of the Fire and Rescue Department from Samarahan, Kuching and Simunjan began their search and rescue (SAR) mission for the Eurocopter AS350 Ecureuil chopper, which is still missing.
The helicopter was believed to be carrying several VIPs who had been missing since Thursday evening.
According to Operations Chief Azman Julaihi, with a search radius of 10 kilometers, the search focuses around coastal areas and also Batang Lupar to Linggi.
Azman, who is also Samarahan Fire and Rescue Department senior enforcer, said his team will scout for potential areas, since the actual position of the helicopter remains unknown.
Among the assets deployed are three boats from the STORM team and divers from the Fire and Rescue Department.
The operation centre at the Triso ferry jetty in Sebuyau opened as early as 5am.
