Police have set up a special team to trace Dr B. Sugumaran, a senior medical officer working at the clinic in Parliament House here, who was reported missing since early this month.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said yesterday police found several personal items of the victim such as luggage and mobile phone in a hotel room he had been staying since last month.
"Police believe the doctor was staying alone at the budget hotel in Batu Caves. The victim's vehicle was not found in the area.
"For now the case has been classified as missing person. This is because there are no indications of criminal elements in the case," he told reporters here today.
Tajuddin said police were in the process of recording statements from family members and the victim's acquaintances to assist investigations.
"We have also inspected the victim's house in Sri Rampai here and there was nothing suspicuous. However, we will also check the hotel's closed circuit television (CCTV) recording," he said.
