The body of a fisherman was found floating about two nautical miles off Sungai Bagan, Rengit near Batu Pahat today, barely 12 hours after he was reported missing.
A team from the Rengit fire and rescue station found the body of Misran Sharif, 46, at 8.45am.
The body was sent to the Batu Pahat Hospital.
Batu Pahat police chief ACP Abdul Wahib Musa said the police received a 'missing person report' from Misran's mother, Saniah Sapoh who said her son did not return home last night.
In a statement here, he said Misran had gone fishing with six other friends about 6am yesterday, but he went out to sea using his own boat.
However, the victim could not be contacted after his friends returned to the Sungai Rengit jetty following a storm, he added.
