Missing Malaysian student in France
Nur Shakinah Naim was reported missing from her lodgings in France around noon on 25 September 2016. -Filepix
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received the official report of the case of the Malaysian student, Ms. Nur Shakinah Naim, who was reported missing from her lodgings in France.
The Public Services Department within the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris confirms the following:
1. Ms. Nur Shakinah Naim, 19 years old, is an engineering student enrolled at the Universitaire de Technologie (IUT), Rouen, Normandy;
2. Ms. Nur Shakinah Naim is in receipt of the Public Services Department scholarship; and
3. The student went missing from her lodgings around noon on 25 September 2016, and this was reported to the Embassy by her housemate on the same night.
Upon receiving the report, a representative of the Embassy left for Rouen to better coordinate the matter and report the case to the local authorities.
This was done on the very same day, and efforts are currently underway with the assistance of the local agencies to locate Ms. Nur Shakinah Naim.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Paris remains in close contact with Rouen authorities and will provide further updates accordingly.
