PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) has opened applications for the 2024/2025 EC-Council Cybersecurity Professional Certification Programme, aimed at bridging skill gaps and reducing unemployment in the cybersecurity and information technology (IT) sector.
MITRA Special Task Force chairman P. Prabakaran said the programme is open to Indian graduates with a diploma or bachelor's degree in IT. It will provide selected participants with free four-month training, including career placement for 200 participants.
"Although many local IT graduates complete their studies, they face challenges entering the cybersecurity industry due to a skill gap.
"This programme aims to address that gap and reduce unemployment, with participants also receiving a living allowance," he said at a press conference today.
The programme, managed by Intellize Tech Services Sdn Bhd in collaboration with EC-Council, the world's largest cybersecurity certification body, is offering certifications in Security Specialist, Certified Network Defender and Certified Ethical Hacker, valued at nearly RM17,000.
Participants would also receive training in soft skills such as professional etiquette and resume writing, he added.
"Due to the high costs involved, participants will sign a contract with Intellize. Those who do not complete the programme will be required to repay the costs," said Prabakaran.
Currently, nearly 50 participants have qualified, with training set to begin in February 2025. Each phase would have 25 participants, he added.
