Mitsubishi Lancers affected by airbag problems as well?

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has issued a recall to 895 Mitsubishi Lancer JT that were manufactured from September 2004 to April 2006.

The reason for the recall was to replace the passenger airbag inflator in these vehicles. Some of these passenger side airbags may release metal fragments when deployed causing injuries to the passenger.

Don’t worry, MMM will issue a notification letter to the affected Mitsubishi owners and will take care of the full cost of the replacement. Affected owners are to make an appointment at any authorised Mitsubishi service centre for the replacements.

“MMM is taking this initiative to ensure customer safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to all customers. This effort is to enable the replacement of the passenger airbag inflator with newly produced inflators,” said Yang Won-Chul, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

Looks like we haven’t seen the last of the airbag issue yet.
