A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred in Mindanao, the Philippines at 5.06 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
In a statement here today, the department said the epicentre of the quake was 160 km southeast of Koronadal City, Philippines and 793 km northeast of Semporna, Sabah.
The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added.
