The Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) is confident that the modern police station project which has been introduced at the Tun Dr Ismail and Brickfields police stations can be extended to all 788 stations in the country.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the success of the project would serve as model and benchmark for the structure and system of the police stations that are deemed suitable.
"The effort towards modern policing is in response to the country's agenda and its national transformation movement which aimed at enabling RMP as a leader in maintaining the peace and security of the nation," he said.
Khalid said this in his speech at the closing ceremony to mark the modern police station pilot project at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail Police Station here today.
He said the project was now focused on four elements, namely Service, Technology, Empowerment and Process or in short, S.T.E.P, which would give positive impact on crime index, public fear on crimes and the satisfaction of police personnel on duty.
RMP would also launch another initiative under its Modern Policing project, namely e-reporting to facilitate members of the public to lodge police report on non criminal cases such as the loss of important documents, he said. -- BERNAMA
