MOE takes efforts to increase awareness of vision schools

The Ministry of Education (MOE) is taking efforts to raise awareness on the good brought about by Vision Schools to all Chinese and Tamil education associations. Deputy Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching said although a handful of Chinese education associations are still not receptive to the concept, the MOE will continue to explanation about the benefits. "The establishment of Vision Schools will bring about benefits and racial integration in this country," she said replying to a supplementary question from Senator Datuk Abdul Rahman Bakar who asked about the acceptance of Vision Schools by Chinese associations as contained in the Malaysia Education Development Plan (PPPM). To the original question from Senator Datuk Chiw Tiang Chai, Yap said the MOE had discussed with all Chinese education associations including the Federation of Associations of Chinese Schools Board Malaysia (Dong Zong) to explain the education transformation agenda and issues raised by them. "The MOE listened and considered the views of all parties before the PPPM 2013-2026 was launched on Sept 6. We also focuses on clarifying the concept of the establishment of Vision Schools." Yap said all the recommendations in the PPPM are in line with the policy and Malaysian constitution, especially those involving the multi stream schooling system, upholding the Malay language and strengthening the English language. The MOE also used the mass media such as television stations and newspapers which provide brochures in Mandarin and Tamil to disseminate information and educate the public about the PPPM.
