KUALA LUMPUR:The Ministry of Health (MOH) will add 1,899 health workers through contract appointments to support health services during the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic.
This statement was made by Health Minister Datuk Seri Adham Baba through his Twitter page today.
It stressed that the MOH has already taken immediate steps by imposing the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) and the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Kedah, Sabah and Selangor.
However, in line with the current development that shows an upward trend of the COVID-19 outbreak, further addition of health workers is required.
Among the additional health workers applied for are Research Officers, Nurses, Assistant Medical Officers, Assistant Environmental Health Officers, Medical Laboratory Technologists and Administrative Assistants (Clerical / Operations and Finance).
"The application was submitted on October 9 in line with the government's agreement for the Ministry of Health to consider adding 2,000 health workers through contract appointments as approved by the government under the Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package previously," he said.
Apart from hospitals, clinics, laboratories and health centers, these health workers will also be stationed at quarantine stations throughout the country and at all international entrances.
