MOH expects to flatten COVID-19 curve by May if people comply with SOP

KUALA LUMPUR:The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has set expectations to flatten the curve of COVID-19 new cases in May.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said it is too early to put the COVID-19 projection now and the expectation also depends on the level of community compliance throughout the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“We have been on the right track and we hope for the community’s compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP).
"If there is a need to leave home, make sure the SOP is complied with, wear face mask, wash hands regularly and so on.
"We expect that perhaps in May, the COVID-19 pandemic curve can be flattened in our country," he said during the MOH press conference here on Wednesday.
Commenting further, Dr Noor Hisham explained, the MOH has set a period of 12 weeks to control the situation of COVID-19 cases in the country.
However, he said, the implementation of MCO for the next two weeks will be scrutinized and the matter depends on the current situation of COVID-19.
