The Ministry of Health (MOH) expects no sudden increase in COVID-19 cases in four clusters of Immigration Detention Depots (DTI) as happened three days ago.

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this was due to ongoing screening other than sending the COVID-19 negative foreigners back to their home countries.

"They are about to finish their second screening at Bukit Jalil DTI and positive cases have been isolated and are being sent to the hospital. The result of two cases is pending.

"We do not expect such a sudden increase as in the last three days when we have 270 cases. So, all the screenings were done and we advise the Immigration Department to send back the negative cases to their respective countries," he said at a press conference here on Saturday.

To date, the Bukit Jalil DTI has shown that 1,545 cases have been screened with a total of COVID-19 positive cases remaining at 608 involving non-citizens.

"There are 935 negative cases and two pending cases for a second screening," he said.

The Semenyih DTI saw 1,785 cases screened and the COVID-19 positive cases remained at 66, with 65 foreigners and a Malaysian citizen.

"The total number of negative cases is 1,716 and no one is pending result," he added.

In addition, for the Sepang DTI, they have screened 1,477 people involving 60 positive cases among non-citizens and 1,417 negative ones.

At the Putrajaya DTI, 101 people were screened, with two positive and 99 negative cases.
