Money politics: Khir Toyo denies being detained by MACC

Former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo today denied reports that he was detained by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) while trying to bribe an Umno delegate in Sungai Besar, this morning.

"I was in Shah Alam today...I took my child to the clinic. I did not even go back to Sungai Besar today," said Khir who is also the former Sungai Besar Umno Division chief.

Khir said he was informed of such a report by his mother while a number of friends had also called him to ask about the report.

The former MB said he did not even attend the Sungai Besar Division election because he was not contesting any posts.

The contest for Sungai Besar Umno Division chief will see a straight fight between Tali Air 7, Sungai Leman Umno branch chairman Datuk Jamal Md Yunos, a restaurant owner in Sekinchan, and Sungai Besar Umno Division vice chairman Mardi Sukir.
