Moral problems of political leaders: This is the people's perception

KUALA LUMPUR:The question of moral problems faced by a number of political leaders currently is acknowledged by the majority of Malaysians.

The findings was obtained by EMIR Research in a poll involving 2,000 respondents conducted in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The report from the poll states that a total of 62 per cent of respondents agree that there are moral problems among political leaders.

This is an increase of more than 10 per cent compared to only 49 per cent in the third quarter of 2020.

Some 23 per cent of respondents said they were not sure while another 15 per cent said they did not agree with the statement.

At the same time, 54 per cent of respondents agreed on the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures among civil servants while 78 per cent agreed to fight corruption in enforcement agencies.

Regarding the administrative management during the COVID-19, 62 percent remained positive with the efforts made to address the epidemic.

There was a slight decrease compared to 72 percent who agreed in the third quarter of 2020.

However, only 45 per cent positive feedback was received regarding efforts to address COVID-19 after the Sabah State Election.

Besides that, about half of the respondents agreed to a lump sum withdrawal from the EPF Account 1 or a monthly withdrawal from the same account.

A total of 52 per cent agreed to a lump sum withdrawal while 48 per cent agreed to a withdrawal on a monthly basis.
