More than 10,000 participants gathered at the historical Dataran Merdeka on Saturday to show solidarity towards the people of Gaza and to condemn the ruthless act by Israel in that region.
Malaysians from all walks of life joined hands at the "Save the Children of Gaza" peaceful rally to protest the Jewish state's violence against the Palestinians in Gaza.
The rally started around 3pm where participants were given a moment of silence to pray for the Palestinians before the organiser, Viva Palestina Malaysia, made its welcome note.
Among the highlights of rally were speeches by the Christian Youth Movement, Inter-Faith Group, Palestinian Youth, Mothers of Malaysia and Aqsa Syarif, not to mention flash-mobs and the display of 1,000 balloons to commemorate the martyred children in Gaza.
Local artistes such as Afdlin Shauki, Ella, Faizal Tahir and Mizz Nina were also spotted at the event. Afdlin delivered a few words to the crowd in support of the noble cause.
Tourists were also seen at the rally showing their support. Protesters were heard shouting various anti-Zionist chants and carried placards with messages condemning Israel's brutality.
The protesters started to disperse peacefully from 4pm.
