More than 600 people evacuated due to floods in Perak

A total of 655 people have been evacuated to 13 relief centres in Perak due to the floods as at 8 am today, from 595 people last night, according to the Perak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat.
The district worst affected is Manjung, where 454 people have been evacuated to three relief centres -- Dewan Inderawati Beruas (195); Sekolah Agama Rakyat Kampung Padang Serai (192) and Dewan Kampung Kota, Beruas (67).
Also affected are the districts of Larut, Matang and Selama, with 140 evacuees at five relief centres, comprising Surau Kampung Jawa Trong (39); Kampung Matang Merbau Trong Community Hall (29); Kampung Kelubung Community Hall(14); Kampung Padang Serai Dalam (21) and Matang Gelugor Community Hall (37) .
Meanwhile, an evacuation centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Ara in Hilir Perak has been opened to accommodate 32 flood victims.
In Perah Tengah district, the flood victims are at Surau Nurul Jannah Parit 6 (10 people) and Surau Kampung Talang (four people), it said in a statement here today.
It also said in the Kinta district, eight people had been evacuated to the Kampung Piandang Community Hall in Batu Gajah, and in the Kuala Kangsar district, four people were at the Surau Karimiah, Kampung Talang Hulu. --Bernama
