JOHOR BAHRU: More than 800 students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have expressed their intention to return home for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, according to its deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs) Prof Dr Shamsul Sahibuddin.
He said this was based on special forms filled up by some 25 per cent of the 3,200 students in the campus who wish to make the Hari Raya journey.
"So far, the university has decided to allocate six buses to carry students home to the East, North and Central Zones and four buses in the South Zone.
"The buses will be making trips from May 6 to May 11," he said in a statement here today.
This follows the Higher Education Ministry's announcement on Thursday that more than 100,000 students from higher learning institutions throughout the country except Sarawak would be allowed to return home for Aidilfitri.
The ministry said students would be going home in stages between May 7 and 12, before reporting back to campus between May 15 and 20.
