More flood victims evacuated in Johor, Terengganu

More food victims have been evacuated to flood relief centres (FRCs) in Johor and Terengganu while several roads have been inundated in the two states.
The number of flood victims in FRCs in Johor rose to 7,106 people this morning while in Terengganu to 3,486 people.
In JOHOR, Batu 18 Sungai Ara-Kota Tinggi was not passable to all vehicles after the water level there rose as high as four metres, according to Mersing police chief DSP Zulkifli Hashim.
He told Bernama that only one lane was open at KM16 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mersing due to a landslide nearby the Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) there.
In TERENGGANU, several main roads have been closed including Jalan Jerangau-Jabor in Dungun which was shut to all traffic after floodwaters reached a metre high.
It was the same situation with Jalan Cukai-Air Putih in Kemaman with the water level 0.5 metre deep and Jalan Ajil-Kuala Berang in Hulu Terengganu (0.9 metres).
According to the National Security Council (MKN) portal, in JOHOR, Mersing recorded the highest number of evacuees at 5,441 people followed by Segamat (1,184), Kota Tinggi (192), Kluang (189), Muar (87) and Batu Pahat (13).
The worst hit places in Mersing were Kampung Sawah Datuk, Pengkalan Batu, Kampung Air Tawar, Kampung Labung, Kampung Tenglu, Kampung Peta, Kampung Makam, Kampung Air Papan and Kampung Air Merah.
In Segamat, the affected areas are Kampung Pogoh, Kampung Logah, Kampung Gemereh, Kampung Segamat Kecil, Kampung Paya Dalam and Kampung Bumbun while in Kota Tinggi, Kampung Perpat, Kampung Gembut and Kampung Mawai Baru have been hit.
As for the Kluang district, the inundated areas are Ladang Mutiara, Yap Tau Sah and Kampung Contoh near Kahang; Muar district has seen Felda Maokil hit while in the Batu Pahat district, worst affected is Kampung Haji Khamisan near Yong Peng.
In TERENGGANU, the number of families forced to flee their homes rose to 897 this morning as compared to 724 families last night.
According to the MKN portal, two more FRCs centres were opened making the number of FRCs currently operational in the state at 44.
Three districts in Terengganu have been hit by floods, with Kemaman most affected followed by Dungun and Hulu Terengganu.
As of 9am today, there were 2,480 flood victims in Kemaman from 623 families. Twenty-nine FRCs have been opened in the district so far.
