More freedom, but self-control needed to fight COVID-19

Implementation of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), which entered its 12th day today, saw more 'freedom' enjoyed, but discipline among the public in complying to the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and self-control need to be enhanced.

Although the public can now "go here and there", they should remember that the SOP is still in force and should not be breached.

Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 40 people had been remanded and eight others were issued compound, where of the total, 38 of them were arrested for engaging in activities that made social distancing difficult to implement.

The rules are made to curb the spread of COVID-19 with the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) since March 18.

The latest development on COVID-19 saw the Ministry of Health (MOH) detecting another new cluster in Labu Lanjut, Sepang, involving five cases and the cause of the infection is still under investigation.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the spread of COVID-19 within the cluster was suspected to have stemmed from visiting activities.

Yesterday, 21 COVID-19 new cases were detected in the country.

The Health Ministry keeps reminding that the COVID-19 infection is still in the community, hence the need for the public to take precautionary measures, especially when conducting visiting activities, to protect children and the elderly.
