More stringent measures to deal with forgery - Pos Malaysia

Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) will discuss with relevant authorities to look for more stringent measures to deal with new forgery tactics.

Pos Malaysia’s group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh in a statement said the measures included revising the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent fraudulent activity.

He was referring to the alleged involvement of Pos Malaysia's staff in a document and licence forgery syndicate known as 'Geng Tuah' that was recently busted by police.

"However, we wish to stress that we do not condone such activity. Since the case is still under investigation, we cannot comment further. Pos Malaysia will wait for the outcome of the investigation before taking any further action.

"Currently, Pos Malaysia is proactively engaging with the relevant authorities and giving our fullest cooperation in assisting them in this case," he said while confirming that one of its staff was arrested in connection with the case.

Perak CID (Commercial) chief, Datuk Gan Tian Kee on Monday said the police had crippled a syndicate which specialised in forging government documents over the past year, with the arrest of five people including a teacher and her husband.
