Mosaic layer charged with stealing Datuk Seri's LV wallet

A mosaic layer pleaded not guilty on Thursday in the Magistrate's Court here to stealing a wallet containing money totalling more than RM8,000 belonging to a businessman with the title of "Datuk Seri".
Wong Soon Siong, 39, was charged with stealing the Louis Vuitton wallet worth RM3,000 owned by Datuk Seri Al Fayed Abdullah, 39, which contained cash amounting to RM6,500 and 20,000 Baht (RM2,312) at the parking lot of the NSK Supermarket in Kuchai Lama, Brickfields here at 1am on Aug 16.
The charge, under section 379 of the Penal Code, provides for a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine, upon conviction.
Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and Sept 22 for case mention.
The prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer Inspector Zuraimi Kamarozzaman, while the accused was represented by lawyer Zulkifli Awang.
Meanwhile, in the same court, a former security guard pleaded not guilty to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt on his wife, on Monday.
S. Murugan, 36, was charged with causing hurt to S. Parameswary, 34, with a knife at a house in Flat Sri Perak, Bandar Baru Sentul, Sentul here at about 7pm Monday.
The charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of six years or fine or whipping, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Najwa Bistamam, who prosecuted, offered bail at RM6,000 with one surety.
The court set Sept 28 for mention to enable the accused to appoint a lawyer.
