The participants of the country's tourism industry have been urged to promote mosques as part of tourism products.
Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the ministry had undertaken various efforts to promote mosques in the tourism sector.
"In TripAdvisor (travel website company providing reviews of travel-related content), out of the 10 major landmarks that need to be visited in Malaysia, four of them are mosques, which indicate that a mosque is not only a place of worship but also a tourist attraction," she said.
She spoke to reporters after opening the Masjid Tanah-level Quran Reciters' Assembly at Al-Muhtadi Mosque in Ramuan China Besar here today.
The Masjid Tanah Member of Parliament said all parties should be open-minded about the function and the role of the mosque. - BERNAMA
