Most wanted criminal in Manjung shot dead by police

A most wanted criminal was shot dead in a shootout with police at Simpang Lima, Manjung about 70km from here, this morning.
Perak CID chief Datuk Gan Tian Kee said in the 3.15am incident police had been trailing the 29-year-old suspect who was driving in a Proton Waja car in a suspicious manner.
Police had instructed the suspect to stop the car but the suspect ignored the calls and instead sped off towards Simpang Lima.
"The suspect's car than skidded and stopped while the driver who tried to escape from the car was shot when he fired at the police," he told reporters at the Ipoh police headquarters, here today.
"Police who inspected the suspect's car found a 0.9mm pistol, five live bullets, an ammo casing, a machete and two mobile phones," he said.
Gan said police also found that the suspect had five previous criminal records involving drugs and was arrested for causing injury with firearms in 2013.
Police records showed that the suspect was on the list of wanted criminals, allegedly for a murder attempt after firing a shot at Tun Sambatan Ayer Tawar in 2014," he said.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in his Twitter and Facebook account today, praised the police for busting a wanted criminal in Manjung.
