KUCHING: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will obtain detailed information from the agencies under its purview before deciding on its new planning, said its minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
He said the cooperation among MOTAC agencies and industry players is needed to ensure no group is marginalised in efforts to revitalise the country's economy in travel, arts and culture.
"The briefings from each agency will begin next week, therefore, I will only share the details (related to the briefings and MOTAC planning) after the briefings," he said after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, here, today.
According to him, as of today, he only has received briefings from the ministry.
Recently, in an official Facebook post, Tiong said there are several weaknesses involving MOTAC policies that had been identified after they were reviewed and scrutinised.
According the post, Tiong is trying to improve the policies.
When asked about the plan to help art activists who are persons with disabilities (PwD), Tiong said MOTAC is ready to cooperate and discuss with related cultural associations to fight for this group.
Meanwhile, Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, said his meeting with Abang Johari, among other things, touched on matters related to cooperation between MOTAC and the Sarawak government to improve state's tourism industry.
He said the matter would be discussed further with Sarawak's Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in the near future.
"He (Abdul Karim) will come by to my office and we will discuss further how the federal and state governments can collaborate in the tourism industry," he added.
