A young mother still in confinement after delivering her second child by Caesarean section two weeks ago braved 0.5 metres of flood waters in the dark to save her children Wednesday night.
Che Zainun Che Ibrahim, 28, from Guchil 4 said she was determined to wade through the floods for 500 metres to save her sons, aged 14 days and three years old, as she feared her house would be submerged.
"Luckily my cousin helped to carry the children. My husband works in Kuala Lumpur," she said when met at the SK Banggol Guchil relief centre here, Wednesday.
Che Zainun, who also works in KL, had returned to deliver her baby in her hometown here.
Another victim, Mek Yam Ahmad, 67, from Guchil 6 said her house was flooded up to 0.2 metres since 6pm Wednesday causing her, her husband and grandchildren to move to the Kuala Krai Veterinary Office relief centre.
"I managed to move a lot of belongings to a safer place as we expected the floods. We are used to it here during the rainy season.
"I moved here at 2pm when the water reached up to our hips.
"Sometimes we have to move three or four times during one rainy season as our house is on low ground," she said.
