Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat earlier today confirmed that the recording of a telephone conversation between a teenage girl and her adopted sister which gave the impression that the young girl had been kidnapped and taken away by a white van, was untrue.
The recording has since gone viral on social media as news of her 'disappearance' broke out.
According to Abdul Samah, the teenager was found in a car with a man believed to be her boyfriend at about 7.45pm in Banting.
"Upon questioning, the teenager said she had 'made-up' the story of her kidnapping, apparently to live free from family," he said in a statement on the Selangor Police Facebook page today.
He said the teenager admitted to living with her boyfriend since the day she went missing.
Meanwhile, Harian Metro reported that Asmah is grateful that her daughter was found in safe condition by the police.
"I have to accept that this thing had happened. I'm a mother, I'm strong, I accept it. I have to accept the truth,” she said.
