One of two men on a motorcycle fired six shots and badly injured a motorist in Chemor near here last night, police said today.
Ipoh Police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the 29-year-old motorist was driving his Hyundai Atos car with two passengers, believed to be family members, in Taman Klebang Putra when he was shot at 11.15 pm.
"The two men on the motorcycle, wearing full-faced helmets, came close to the car and one of them fired six shots," he told reporters after attending an Aidilfitri open house at the Pekan Baru Police Station, here.
Sum said police found six spent bullets at the scene of the incident. He said the unconscious motorist was receiving treatment in hospital.
One of the passengers in the car had lodged a police report on the incident, he added.
