An unemployed man and a factory operator, who had pleaded guilty to nine counts of committing a terrorist act in connection with an explosion at an entertainment centre in Puchong last June, on Monday changed their plea to not guilty.
Imam Wahyudin Karjono, 20, and Jonius Ondie @ Jahali, 24, changed their plea when the case came up for mention before Sessions Court judge Azwarnida Affandi.
The court then fixed Nov 14 to mention the case.
At today's proceeding, the prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P. Kunyalam, while Imam Wahyudin was represented by lawyers Fareida Mohd and Wong Kar Fai, and Jonius by lawyer Aaron Mark Pius.
On July 25 this year, Imam Wahyudin and Jonius pleaded guilty to eight counts of hurling and exploding a hand grenade which used the "Fuze M213" fuse lever, causing eight people to be injured.
They were charged with committing the offence at Movida Boulevard Sdn Bhd, Lot G2 & G3, Ground Floor, IOI Boulevard, Jalan Kenari 5, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, at 2 am last June 28.
The charge, under Section 307(1) of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to 30 years, if found guilty.
The two men were also charged with possession of a hand grenade which used the 'Fuze M213' fuse level at the same place, time and date.
The charge, under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, provides an imprisonment for up to 14 years and not less than six strokes of the cane, if found guilty.
They were not allowed bail as both the accused were facing charges under Section 13 of the Security Offences (Special measures) Act 2012. -- Bernama
