The Malay Consultative Council (MPM) is disappointed by MCA who is in line with DAP Youth chief in stating that the Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri should be removed from office following his recent statement on the Chinese traders.
MPM Secretary-General Datuk Dr Hasan Mad said, MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and MCA Youth Chief Chong Sin Woon's support towards DAP revealed their true colours.
"They protect the chauvinists instead of helping the government tackle problems faced by the people, therefore Ismail's call revealed MCA's true stand.
"MPM is not surprised by the reaction by DAP Youth Chief, Teo Kok Siong because we all know DAP is indeed a chauvinistic party," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Dr Hasan was commenting on Ismail's recent Facebook status urging to boycott 'stubborn' Chinese traders for refusing to reduce the prices of services and goods.
Ismail however defended his statement, saying that the message was not directed to the Chinese community but to businessmen who seemed apprehensive to reduce the prices of goods and services after the drop of oil prices.
His statement also received mixed responses and criticisms from various quarters including those from the opposition camp and Barisan Nasional.
Meanwhile, he said, MPM appreciate the fact Wanita MIC chief, M. Mohana and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup who supported Ismail's statement.
"For those who criticized Ismail's suggestion, especially MCA President and its youth chief, please build politics of prudence and friendship, do not be a thorn in the flesh.
"The Chinese have long hated MCA, that is why MCA is becoming less popular," he added.
Dr Hasan also reminded MCA to not keep on provoking the Malays if they don't want the Malays to despise them.
