MRCS and Maaedicare launch Klinik Amal Percuma for underserved community

Klinik Amal Percuma will provide free medical services to the underserved members of the community. Among the services offered are primary care, chronic disease management, as well as health education and counseling. 16 Klinik Amal Percuma will be established in different states in Malaysia in the coming years.

Presently, two Klinik Amal Percuma have begun operations in January 2023. They are located at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and in Ipoh, Perak. The free clinics are open between Mondays and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. No appointment is necessary, and patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Yang Teramat Mulia Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Tunku Temenggong Kedah and National Chairperson of The Malaysian Red Crescent said the mutual collaboration is focused on making a positive impact in the community and help to improve the health and well-being of those in need.

“This partnership is a powerful way to make a positive impact and achieve common goals. Healthcare providers, organisations, and community leaders can pool their resources and expertise to reach more people and provide more comprehensive care,” she said in her keynote address here today.

Yang Mulia Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, Chairman of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation said healthcare affordability is a significant concern in Malaysia.

“Healthcare affordability is a subject close to my heart. The cost of medical treatment can be prohibitively expensive for many people and many individuals and families struggle to afford the cost of medical treatment. Everyone in our country should have access to the medical care they need, regardless of their income level,’’ he said in his opening remarks at the launch of Klinik Amal Percuma today.

Tunku Dato’ Yaacob reiterated that access and affordability to healthcare services was important and that Maaedicare was committed to making sure that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life.

“We believe that Klinik Amal Percuma will make a real difference in the lives of many people. We are grateful for the support of our community partner the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, donors and volunteers, who have made this project possible, and we look forward to serving the community for many years to come,’’ he said.

This partnership will significantly contribute towards reducing waiting times and ‘over congestion’ within government hospitals while also helping patients to be treated in a timely manner, bridge the gap on health disparities in the country, and play an important role to promote preventative healthcare and reduce the burden of chronic diseases.

The clinic will be staffed by a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, who are committed to providing highquality care to patients, regardless of their ability to pay. The clinic will also have volunteer opportunities for members of the community who wish to get involved.
