MASS Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) CEO Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid has tendered his resignation over the incident which occurred at the V-1 Kota Damansara area within the former Rubber Research Institute site near Kota Damansara.
In a statement, Azhar said that his decision was in line with MRT Corp taking full responsibility for the incident which had resulted in the deaths of three Bangladeshi workers.
‘As the head of MRT Corp, I am taking personal responsibility for the incident and this is the correct thing to do. I have informed the Chairman of MRT Corp, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, of my decision,” he said in the statement.
He says he is extremely saddened by the pointless loss of lives which had resulted from the incident.
Azhar says MRT Corp and the relevant authorities will investigate and identify the cause of the incident.
"I hope all the weaknesses which are identified will be rectified," he adds.
