MRT Corp CEO's resignation unreasonable - Poll

MRT Corp CEO Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid’s resignation over the fatal accident at the construction site that claimed three lives, was unreasonable.

This is the opinion of readers who voted in a poll conducted by Astro Awani where 57 per cent said the move unreasonable while the remaining 43 per cent cited his decision was reasonable.

On Facebook, many readers opposed his decision stating that he could have at least, waited until a complete investigation concluded.

“Why resign? It looks like there is an internal problem and a lack of a sense of responsibility. Wait for the investigations to be completed, and then make a decision,” said Mohamad Haji Daud.

User Mohd Faiz said Azhar is not a CEO material as he has to wait for the investigations to be completed before resigning.

“The security officers did not resign as well?” asked FB user, Asri Salleh Hassan.

Meanwhile, Aaron Rashyim opined that Azhar’s move is commendable and should be emulated by all leaders.

Yesterday, Azhar said that his decision was in line with MRT Corp taking full responsibility for the incident.

"As the head of MRT Corp, I am taking personal responsibility for the incident and this is the correct thing to do,” he had said in the statement.

In the fatal incident, three Bangladeshi workers were killed when a concrete span at the site collapsed on Monday at 8.30pm.
