A marine tanker which was reportedly hijacked yesterday was found today, together with its crew in Batam waters, Indonesia.
Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) chief, Datuk Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar said a contact was established with the captain of the 'MT Vier Harmony' after the vessel was found about 12.30pm.
He said the operation to track down the vessel began this morning. Ahmad Puzi had earlier posted a series of tweets on the possible hijacking of the tanker ferrying 900,000 litres of diesel worth RM1.57 million.
In his Twitter account, he had also stated that based on preliminary investigations, it was believed the Batam-registered tanker was hijacked due to internal issues.
In the MMEA Facebook account, the agency said the tanker was supposed to have been in the waters off Kuantan when it was reported missing at 5pm yesterday.
