KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO and PAS' political cooperation through Muafakat Nasional (MN) has not ended, UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said.

However, he admitted that ties between both parties appeared to be edging towards its final chapter.

"But we have to be clear here that we will only be with those loyal to us, not with those who play many sides, as this would cause confusion which would end up with us being confused as well," he told a media conference after officiating at the simultaneous opening of UMNO's Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings assemblies here tonight.

Mohamad was asked about the current direction of the MN charter that was signed by UMNO and PAS on Sept 14, 2019.

Asked whether PAS was invited to this year's UMNO general assembly, Mohamad said space constraints and (strict) standard operating procedures have not allowed it.

On the next general election, he said the party wants it to be held as soon as possible.

"As the party election director, I plan the strategies so that the party wins elections. Now it is the time for us to strike, so let us hold discussions at the higher level, (on) what is good and what is not, what could be beneficial and what could be detrimental to the party," he said.
