The good transport system network such as the second phase of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Semantan-Kajang line proves that the government has successfully carried out its religious responsibility to the people.
Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri said from the religious point of view, it was the right of the people to be provided with such infrastructure by the ruling government.
He said public amenities such as the MRT facilitated connectivity, provided comfort, saved time, eliminated driving pressure during traffic congestion as well as enhanced ties among the people.
"According to Islam, there are four things that can bring comfort and happiness to one's life, namely a life partner, good place to stay, good neighbours and comfortable vehicle.
"The government's responsibility is not only focused on ensuring a peaceful country and people alone but the government must also improve the quality of life of the people," he said after taking a ride on MRT from Kajang Stadium station to Tun Razak Exchange station here today.
Commenting on the act of vandalism at several MRT stations, Zulkifli said it was prohibited in Islam and urged the public to fully utilise and appreciate the facilities.
