Muhyiddin: All communities treated fairly

The government treats all communities or groups in the country equally, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.

Muhyiddin, who is also Pagoh Member of Parliament, said the Orang Asli community, and also the indigenous communities of Sabah and Sarawak, were given equal treatment and received aid from the government without any discrimination.

"There is no discrimination in terms of our treatment of any community in the country including the Orang Asli. There is no difference in our treatment.

"The government's policy is to be fair and just to all," he said at a  gathering with the Orang Asli community in Kampung Tambak Dapur in Pagoh today.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said among the issues most stressed on in the development of the Orang Asli was education and urged Orang Asli parents not to neglect the education of their children.

The government, he said had provided numerous aid to the Orang Asli community to enable their children to be successful in education.

At the function, Muhyiddin also announced an allocation of RM100,000 to build a playground and recreational facilities for the Orang Asli community in Kampung Tambak Dapur.

He said the government, through the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, had also allocated RM500,000 to repair the water supply system in the village.

According to Muhyiddin, the government always endeavoured to boost  health facilities for the Orang Asli communities nationwide.
