Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today suggested that all members of the teaching fraternity work together with the Ministry of Education and Higher Learning to ensure that the aspirations of the Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM) (2013-2025) were achieved.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Minister of Education and Higher Learning, said the policy called for close cooperation between the teaching fraternity, parents and the community as a whole to ensure its success.
"The tripartite cooperation is considered important so that the aspiration to improve access to quality education is achieved. I believe that in the next few years, we will face a bigger challenge.
"The expectation of the community in terms of education is certainly high and for this reason, we must work together to ensure that the aspiration is met," he said in his Teachers' Day speech at his office at Bangunan Putra Perdana, here today.
In conjunction with Teachers' Day tomorrow, Muhyiddin, who recorded his appreciation to the teachers throughout the country, said that Teachers' Day was a significant celebration in appreciating all the contributions, deeds, and sacrifices of the teachers nationwide in educating and guiding the children to become knowledgeable and successful citizens.
"This year, we again focus on the efforts that we can make together to raise the role and contribution that the teachers throughout the country can give, in line with the aspirations that we have agreed together in the PPPM, which was mobilised this year," he said.
