Muhyiddin congratulates top UPSR candidates

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today congratulated the top performers in this year's Primary School Asssessment Test (UPSR) and advised those who did not do so well to continue striving for success.
He also congratulated parents and teachers for the hard work they put in preparing the candidates for the examination.
"To the students who feel disappointed and down because they did not do very well, do not despair and give up hope. The journey is long and I hope all will continue with their efforts to attain success," he said in a statement here today.
Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said the original objective of the UPSR examination was to evaluate competency of the students in the subjects based on the prescribed syllabus.
"Students who did not get results should not despair because they will have to undergo many more exams before reaching the ivory tower," he said.
In this year's UPSR, 36,304 candidates or 7.89 per cent of the 460,407 candidates who sat for the examination scored straight As'. This was was a 1.26 per cent drop as compared to 42,646 who got all As' last year.
