Muhyiddin describes win as a commitment, responsibility

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who has retained his position as Umno deputy president described the win as a commitment and responsibility which he must assume in all sincerity and earnestness for the sake of the Malay struggle and Islam.
The deputy prime minister who won unopposed expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue his service in Umno.
"I thank Umno members for their confidence in me to accomplish Umno's aspirations and objectives," he said in a statement here.
Muhyiddin's win was announced by Umno Selection Committee chairman Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali at a media conference after nominations closed at 5 pm today.
Earlier, Tajol Rosli declared that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had won the Umno presidency uncontested.
Muhyiddin who had held the post since 2009 also congratulated Najib and pledged to assist the president in strengthening the party.
"As deputy president, I will continue to assist the president to strengthen the party and ensure that Umno will attain victory and remarkable success in future," he said.
He said the non contest for the top two positions reflected party members' desire to maintain Umno's strength and dependability in executing the transformation process.
