Muhyiddin to launch WIF-KL

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will launch World Innovation Forum Kuala Lumpur (WIF-KL) on Monday.

The programme is jointly organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (YIM).

In a statement to Bernama, MOSTI said WIF-KL is the culmination of the Science and Innovation Movement Year 2012, which is a continuation of two government initatives -- Year of Creativity and Innovation Malaysia 2010 (Malaysia Inovatif 2010) and Year of Science and Mathematics Promotion 2011.

"This year, the theme chosen is 'Science and Innovation Driving Transformation', based on the confidence that science and innovation will create knowledge, generate wealth and promote the people's well-being.

"WIF-KL's role is as catalyst for innovation movements in the global context to promote socio-economic development," it said.

MOSTI said WIF-KL also provides a platform for sharing of experiences and issues with a view to formulate a strategy for inclusive innovation that will greatly expand business and investment opportunities domestically and globally.
