KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) urged for a biparti consultation process between the government and the opposition to begin without further delay.
PKR Wanita chief Fuziah Salleh in a statement said the fragility and instability of the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin has led to the urgent need for the biparti consultation process to begin, for the sake of national interest.
Therefore, said Fuziah, Wanita PKR urged Muhyiddin to start the discussion process in order to ensure the principle of check and balance and the spirit of democracy is embraced as the backbone of Parliamentary institution.
"It is appropriate for the Prime Minister to begin the consultation process at this time and give space to all MPs to review the entire budget proposed by the government," she said in a statement on the party's official Facebook page.
Apart from that, Fuziah who is also the Member of Parliament for Kuantan believed that the proposed Budget 2021 must focus on the well-being of the people.
"In the face of pandemic challenges and post-pandemic implications that still surround the lives of the people, Wanita Keadilan views that the proposed Budget must focus on the well-being of the people, especially those closely related to critical unemployment issues among youths, job losses due to pandemics and multi-dimensional poverty projections. increasing.
"Wanita Keadilan also believes that the Budget to be tabled must be inclusive, protect the vulnerable and prioritise gender-responsive budgets, especially looking at social issues related to the impact of pandemics," he said.
